Overview

Frontera Search Partners is recruiting an OB/GYN Physician in Camp Pendleton, CA for a full-time assignment at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton and associated branch health clinics. This position combines clinic care with in-house labor and delivery call during a ten-month physician deployment, with coverage scheduled to start December 1, 2026.

You will provide obstetric and gynecologic care within the clinical privileges granted by the military treatment facility. The scope includes preventive care, evaluation and treatment of gynecologic conditions, and prenatal, delivery, and postnatal care for low- and high-risk pregnancies. You will also work with a multidisciplinary healthcare team and participate in clinical teaching and performance improvement.

Schedule and Location

• Full-time, in-person services at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, California, and associated branch clinics.
• Clinic and in-house labor and delivery call may be scheduled Sunday through Saturday, including federal holidays, at any hour.
• Typical schedules use five 8.5-hour shifts or 12.5-hour shifts, each including a 30-minute unpaid meal break. Service hours may not exceed 80 in a two-week pay period.
• Two-week schedules are provided one month in advance. Shift hours may change with 48 hours’ notice to meet patient care and mission needs.
• Reassignment to another location within a 40-mile commuting radius may occur with 48 hours’ notice.
• Leave without pay requires a request 60 days in advance and approval; the maximum is 40 hours during the assignment.

Responsibilities

• Obtain medical histories, perform examinations, order diagnostic testing, establish diagnoses, provide treatment, and give follow-up instructions.
• Provide obstetric care and consultation, including pregnancy testing and prenatal, delivery, and postnatal care for low- and high-risk pregnancies.
• Evaluate gynecologic diseases and disorders, develop treatment plans, and perform colposcopy, LEEP, and cryotherapy when indicated.
• Provide contraceptive counseling and fertility services, including laboratory and surgical evaluation and management of problems conceiving.
• Refer patients to appropriate specialty services and provide preventive care, health education, and counseling.
• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and use systems such as MHS Genesis and the Clinical Information System.
• Participate in peer review, risk management, performance improvement, required training, and clinical meetings. Provide instruction or clinical direction to supporting healthcare personnel within your privileges.
• Follow infection control, patient safety, emergency response, patient rights, and applicable TRICARE requirements.

Qualifications

Required

• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree meeting the contract’s medical education requirements. International medical graduates must provide the specified evidence of educational equivalency.
• Completion of an approved internship and OB/GYN residency. Accepted residency pathways include ACGME, American Osteopathic Association, or qualifying Canadian programs.
• Board certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• A current, full, active, unrestricted California medical license.
• Two years of clinical OB/GYN work experience within the preceding three years.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program, Fetal Monitoring-Basic, Basic Life Support, and Advanced Life Support certifications. The PWS permits obtaining missing certifications within 12 months of the service start date; certification requirements must be maintained.
• Two letters of recommendation written within the past two years, including at least one from a physician supervisor. The other may come from a practicing physician or clinic or hospital administrator. Letters must address clinical and interpersonal skills and include the writer’s name, title, telephone number, address, date, and signature.
• Completion of military treatment facility credentialing and practice within granted clinical privileges.
